There was instant chemistry the first time we met at a Halloween party in 2013. Matt was dressed in his yearly sailor outfit (if you know Matt around Halloween, it’s his go to costume), while Kristen wasn’t as creative but clearly her wonder women costume did the trick. Although we had a strong connection that night, it would be the last time we saw or spoke to each other for almost four years.

 

Here’s a little bit about us. Matt was born and raised in Niagara Falls and attended the University of Western Ontario. A couple of years later, Matt left for teachers college to brave the cold north and attended Nipissing University. Kristen was raised in Kitchener and attended the University of Guelph graduating in 2013.

 

After teacher’s college, Matt moved to Saskatchewan for three years to pursue his teaching career. Although Matt could tell you so many fun stories of the west, he accepted a supply teaching job for the Waterloo School Board and moved back to Ontario in 2016. After graduating University, Kristen stayed in the Kitchener/Waterloo area and began working at the same credit union she is at today.

 

Kristen’s close friend from University, happens to be the same friend Matt met in teacher college. She is also the reason we both attended the same Halloween party in 2013. Since Matt was new to the Kitchener/Waterloo area, Daniella set us up and we had our first date at Abe Erb brewery in March 2017 and have been inseparable ever since.

 

Our relationship moved very quick, maybe you can say love at first sight? We bought our first house in April 2018, adopted our beautiful beagle Lola that summer, engaged in Ellicottville, NY in December of that same year.

 

Some of our favourite things: our shared love for FOOTBALL (including being in competition with each other in our two fantasy football leagues and cheering for two different teams), our weekly addiction to This Is Us and Grey's Anatomy, our passion for breweries and wine and of course, walking our dog Lola. 

 

Our original wedding date was set for August 8, 2020 and like many couples, we have had to postpone due to the pandemic. We will get married in 2021 and there is no way a pandemic will stop us next year!
